Jonathan Mitchell, Director of Business Process Improvement, Rolls-Royce

As Director of Business Process Improvement, Jonathan Mitchell is responsible for Rolls-Royce process improvement initiatives, the Quality function and also Information Technology. He is currently overseeing initiatives in Rolls-Royce to overhaul and rationalise the Enterprise Resource Planning environment into a single, consistent set of global processes that will reduce costs and timescales. He is also the joint leader of a Company-wide initiative, which is reducing overhead cost base of the Group.

Before joining Rolls-Royce, Jonathan spent 13 years at Glaxo – primarily in the Information Technology Division. During this time, he ran application development and support departments, managed outsourcing arrangements and set up the early hybrid IT/science computing groups which were addressing the modelling of the genome. Following two years as the Strategic Planning Director, he completed the IT portfolio by taking on the operational management of the Glaxo Wellcome computing infrastructure. From there, he went on to manage the operation and rationalisation of the large computing infrastructure created by the merger of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKlineBeecham.
