AXA Global - IT Shared Services
Robert Pitt

AXA is a global insurer, built to a dominant scale by acquisition.  It had stand-alone IT functions in every country and separate company it had acquired.  The benefits of consolidation were very large but politics and governance concerns had stalled progress.

Robert led the team which was selected as strategic partner to shape and ‘sell’ to stakeholders a global service delivery transformation. This involved developing the governance and shaping the transformation journey to create a shared-services organisation as a separate entity within the group, providing IT services to each operating company while consolidating applications, architectures, infrastructure and data centres.  There were 3200 people in the organisations to be combined. The financial savings were multiple hundreds of million Euros annually.  This work involved coordinated programmes from Japan to North America, with multiple IT Transformations in locations from France to Germany and Spain.

Robert led the team which won the selection and then shaped the target operating model, mapped the transformation journey and secured executive commitment from key stakeholders. He also led transformation projects in AXA France, AXA Colonia, Australia and US.
